What's it all about?

Writers Critique House is a tool to help writers get focused and useful feedback on their writing projects. Specifically feedback from others who have an interest in or knowledge about the genre and type of project being created. This whole thing was inspired by my wife who was writing a book and trying to break into the publishing industry. I was surprised at how much effort she had to go through to find a critique group to ensure quality and find the flaws she as the creator was inherently blind to. I was also surprised at how many times she had to repeat this process as her skill and ability improved, and her genre focus shifted.

Thus was Writers Critique House born. A site where you can submit a project to be reviewed, with specific tags to inform people about what it is they are critiquing. Fantasy and Romance may go together, but have different needs depending on which is the core genre of your project. Not everyone likes to read Horror or Thriller, so finding someone who enjoys those genre's is paramount in getting feedback to help make it the best it can be.

This is not another networking site (read social media) but simply a web based tool to help you find others who are passionate about your writing project and its specific niche. It started with Authors in mind, but any work of written form is supported, be it a research paper or a D&D custom campaign, all are welcome. Whatever you are writing, I want to help it be the best it can be in its target audience space.

How it works

Creators - If your project is ready to receive feedback, go to the Critique Request page and fill out the request form to get the project added to our database. A copy of the project itself will not be submitted to us at this time (but may be an option in the future when proper protections and support are implemented) Once it is in the database it will be available for discovery by critiquers. Currently there is not a dedicated team of critiquers. This may change as the tool matures and if there is interest, but a world of people ready to help and engage with content creators such as yourself exists and they only need to know of this tool to find you.

Critiquers - We need you! If you are a content creator that inherently qualifies you to review and critique others work. We can all grow together. If you are willing to help other creators out please go to the Project Search page and fill out the search form for anything meeting criteria which you are interested in and able to offer feedback. A list of projects meeting your criteria will be pulled out from the projects database for you to peruse. If you find one you wish to critique there will be an option to offer feedback to notify the content owner that you are willing to help. When they accept your help, your contact info will be shared so you can coordinate how to hand off the project and feedback at your discretion.
